Detroit Police Commissioner Emeritus and State Representative candidate Willie Burton will participate in the Eastside Candidate Forum on Saturday, July 18, hosted by Authentically Detroit and the Eastside Community Network (ECN) in partnership with SEIU Michigan.
The forum will bring together candidates seeking election to the U.S. House, Michigan Senate, and Michigan House of Representatives to discuss the issues that matter most to Detroit’s Eastside residents. Topics will include housing, economic opportunity, environmental justice, health care, neighborhood development, and the impact of data centers on local communities.
Burton is one of the invited candidates for Michigan’s 9th House District. Each candidate will answer seven questions, with 90 seconds allotted for each response, giving voters the opportunity to hear directly from those seeking to represent them.
“I appreciate the opportunity to speak directly with residents about the issues affecting our neighborhoods and to share my vision for Michigan’s 9th House District,” Burton said. “An informed electorate is essential to a strong democracy, and I encourage everyone who can attend to join the conversation.”
The State House District 9 forum is scheduled from 1:15 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
